Ewert Ranch
The Ewert Ranch is located in some of the best year around cattle country that the Land of Enchantment has to offer. Located in Southeastern New Mexico in northern Chaves County this unique ranch property offers quality grazing for 200 ± animal units yearlong.
Grassland in the East Pasture
The native grass turf offers excellent grazing for domestic livestock and wildlife. The grass species include blue, black and sideoats grama with tobosa grass and giant sacaton in overflow areas of the draws and drainages. One of the primary drainages is The Macho Draw, which traverses the ranch for approximately three miles. The Macho Draw is one of the primary wet weather drainages in the general area with a watershed in excess of one-hundred miles. During times of rainfall runoff the Macho Draw can overflow and spread over a wide area with the assistance of earthen diversion dikes that have been constructed in strategic locations.
Giant sacaton is a large bunch grass species that grows in overflow areas of the Macho Draw and with proper management may enhance the grazing capability of the ranch.
