RECREATIONAL PROPERTIES
Bar M Real Estate Real Estate classifies recreational properties as rural properties that offer multiple use characteristics. New Mexico offers a wide variety of terrain and vegetation. Landscapes range from alpine forest with elevations that exceed 10,000 feet to semi-arid desert type country. With the change in terrain comes a change in the possible uses. Livestock grazing is and has been an important segment of the economy of the general area. However with the increased popularity of sport hunting there has been a conscious effort on the part of many landowners to develop a quality hunting opportunity on a fee basis. Additionally there is a large area of federal and state lands that allow public access for a variety of activities that include hunting, hiking, biking etc. Hunting in New Mexico is regulated by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish. Private landowners do control access and the number of allowable hunters to their private lands. Specific hunting seasons have big designated for the big game species and a valid hunting license is required. The species that are available within the state include Elk, Mule Deer, Coues Deer, Antelope, Bighorn Sheep, Ibex, Barbary Sheep, Oryx, Javelina, Bear, Cougar and any number of game birds.
